Mawer Investment Management is looking for a Business Analyst (BA) to play a key role in the maturation of the Project Management Office through by contributing to the continued development of our systems and processes, delivering small to medium size projects, actively engage, communicate and collaborate across the firm to analyze information needs and functional requirements and recommend effective business solutions.
This position requires experience with Customer Relationship Management, Project Management, Investment Management systems and related data structures, as well as the ability to provide improvement solutions for complex and interdependent business processes, focusing on back, front and middle office users.
This position reports to the Head, PMO.
Primary Responsibilities
Work closely with all areas of the business such as: Investment Operations, Portfolio Management, Research, Finance, Compliance, and Accounting
Facilitate workshops, document and evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose business need to requirements, user stories etc.
Identify and champion optimized and re-engineered business and operational processes. Recommend solutions to align business functions with organizational goals
Deliver small to medium size projects
Document and socialize re-engineered business processes to foster user adoption
Deliver requirements and project documentation as required (Functional Requirements, Business Requirements, User Stories, Workflow Documents etc.) ensuring buy-in from business users
Complete fit/gap analysis, prioritization of any resulting gaps or issues
Develop and execute test plans, coordination of testing effort and management of expected and actual results
Work with vendor(s) to coordinate and facilitate workflow design sessions to solution optimal system configurations and or business processes
Understand current state processes across all areas of business and identify opportunities for alignment and increase process efficiencies
Contribute to building out Business Analysis best practices within the PMO and work directly with project managers to deliver initiatives
Must be able to lead smaller, business focused initiatives from inception to completion (applying a project management skillset)
Application Requirements
Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst
PMP designation preferred
Experience in managing small to medium sized projects; financial industry experience preferred
Post-secondary degree in a finance, accounting, or information technology discipline is preferred
Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with all internal and external stakeholders
Strong organization and prioritization skills with exceptional attention to detail
Proven analytical, problem solving, and trouble-shooting skills
Experience leading process analysis and documentation of current and future state processes
Demonstrated commitment to excellent client service, and team collaboration
Microsoft Office, Visio, basic SQL or Oracle, knowledge of scripting language an asset
Demonstrated investment management domain knowledge will be considered an asset
Familiarity with Power BI/SSRS considered an asset
