The Strategic Business Analyst is responsible for collaborating with senior leaders to develop strategies that align with H&R Block's mission statement. The Strategic Business Analyst takes charge of establishing multi-year roadmaps to support the creation of long-term and short-term corporate plans. Acting as a liaison between the Architecture team and key business stakeholders, this role bridges the gap between business objectives and technology solutions to meet the needs of the company and its customers.

This position is based in Calgary, AB and offers a hybrid work schedule, with 3 days per week in-office.

Main Responsibilities:

Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the company, including its structure, personnel, processes, and technology, as well as the interconnectedness between departments.
Establishes strong relationships with key stakeholders across all levels of the organization, both at head office and in the field.
Provides assistance to senior leaders in developing strategies and business plans.
Facilitates workshops involving multiple stakeholders to determine business priorities, sequencing, and conduct high-level solution analysis.
Identifies and maps dependencies between business initiatives and technology deliverables.
Develops roadmap scenarios to present strategic options to senior leaders, along with associated costs, benefits, and risks.
Collaborates with the Enterprise Architect to assess potential technology solutions for business challenges.
Establishes connections with the Architecture and Strategy teams at H&R Block's global headquarters in Kansas City.
Contributes to the improvement of governance, processes, and tools for annual portfolio management and budgeting activities.
Leads the organization's benefits realization function, ensuring that implemented strategies meet their intended targets.
Collects metrics and data from various sources (NPS, Financials, Reporting, etc.) to inform strategic planning.
Assists the Delivery Services team in their functions, as capacity allows (Portfolio Management, Business Continuity Management, Release Planning, etc.).
Ensures that business models align with the company's mission statement.
Evaluates proposals for new products and services.
Tracks regulatory, market, and economic trends.
Performs other assigned responsibilities as necessary.
Key Qualifications:

Possesses over 10 years of progressively responsible experience in business analysis or business architecture, with a preference for experience within the financial services sector.
Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field, complemented by extensive professional experience.
Possession of a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree is an asset.
Business Relationship Management experience, along with BRMP or CBRM certifications, is considered beneficial.
Project Management experience, as well as holding a PMP certification, is considered advantageous.
Skilled in leading and facilitating workshops involving multiple stakeholders.
Demonstrates expert proficiency in utilizing the Microsoft Suite of applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Possesses exceptional business and technical writing and editing skills, along with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrates exceptional collaboration, strategic planning, and communication skills.
Has a proven track record of delivering results, with a results-focused approach and a strong work ethic.
Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships and being viewed as a trusted strategic partner by senior People Leaders.
Has the ability to successfully manage and balance competing priorities.
