The Administration group is comprised of Legal, Corporate Secretary Division Customer Complaint Handling, Complaints Management Program, Whistleblower and the Enterprise Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) functions. Collectively, this group enables CIBC’s core purpose: to help make our clients’ ambitions a reality by providing our business partners across CIBC with the expert support, strategic advice, programs, policies, controls and governance needed to help build a relationship-oriented bank for a modern world. Reporting to the Senior Director, ESG & Corporate Governance, the Consultant will serve as a contributing member of the ESG and Corporate Governance Team to support the research and analysis of ESG and corporate governance best practices, trends and industry developments. The Consultant will also provide project management support related to Corporate Governance initiative while leveraging data analytic skills to derive insights and inform decision making.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you’ll succeed
Research and analysis of ESG best practices:
You can conduct quantitative and qualitative comparative research to analyze industry trends, emerging issues and stakeholder priorities.
You can identify areas of opportunities related to ESG & Corporate Governance through data analysis.
You can identify key data sources and elements for analytical purpose, such as determining innovative, efficient and effective means of accessing, consolidating and using data.
You can manage the end-to-end research needs of the Team as required.
Contribution to data-driven decision making:
You can interpret data, synthesizing findings and communicating insights to support key decision making.
You are experienced in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to build data capabilities.
Communication of insights and key findings:
You have the ability to produce scheduled and ad hoc reporting packages for our Board of Directors and senior management.
You are capable of preparing materials to support Board Directors and Management’s engagements with stakeholders.
You can build and maintain a central repository for research content to build internal expertise.
You can contribute to presentation content and coordinate work packages.
Coordination and management of projects
You have the ability to support the Senior Director in full-cycle shareholder proposal process.
You can provide project management support, conduct meetings, and manage follow-on activities with business partners.
You can provide back-up support for Board materials posting as required.
Who you are
You have an undergraduate or graduate degree in Sustainability, Corporate Governance, Business or related fields, with at least 5 years of professional experience in research, benchmarking and/or data analysis. Work experience in a Legal environment is an asset.
You can demonstrate strong communication and analytical skills, and a good understanding of research methods and data analysis. You are skilled at using presentation and analytics tools, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
You work with a high degree of attention to detail, capable of working independently to handle multiple deliverables, and thrive on explaining complex concepts to different audiences.
